About Me

Welcome to my "personal" place in the world wide web- a digital manifestation of what's going on in my mind/life. I'm your host, Eby M. Sim, and allow me to navigate you through this labyrinth- I hope you will find the subsequent journey to be quite pleasant and not too haphazard.

I've been asked on many occasions, "What is Narczicated?" and/or "what does that tattoo on your right deltoid mean?" Well, Narcizated is sort of like a personal philosophy fusing narcissism to the effects of nitrogen narcosis. In short, it means in everything that I do, no matter how dreaded, I do it with a consciousness of euphoria leading to self-gratification.

I'm currently based in Sydney, Australia. My home country is the tropical island city-state located near the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula of the continent of Asia- Singapore.

I'm a PhD student at the University of Technology, Sydney, working on a joint project with the ithree insititute and CSIRO Animal, Food and Health Sciences. My general interest is in bacteriophages (phages)- viruses that infect bacteria.

I'm pretty much a laid back person. Whenever I can spare the time, I like to unwind and spend it reading (mostly comics or science magazines), watching a TV show, having a cup of tea or gaming.

I love the occasional drink and enjoy visiting cocktail bars just to try their signature drinks. My all-time favourite cocktail is the long island iced tea. I also have a weakness (some might refer to it as an obsession) for absinthe.

I have this Asian quirk of bringing a camera everywhere I go and I do take photos of food- you got to keep up stereotypes.

And lastly, to satiate my personal philosophy- I'm awesome.
